Established on 60.000 sqm area in total, Miniatürk is composed of a market place of 15.000 sqm, green area and outdoor spaces of 40.000 sqm, indoor space of 3.500 sqm, pool and canal areas of 2.000 sqm, and a car park area with a capacity for 500 vehicles.
Thanks to its simultaneous coordination, Miniatürk was completed in a short time as 22 months only, and is recognised as the miniature city completed in the shortest time with the largest market space in the world.
Models of 1/25 scales of selected works of Turkish and Ottoman geographies are exhibited in Miniatürk where 126 models, including 59 ones from Istanbul, 55 from Anatolia and 12 from the Ottoman geography that remains outside the territorial boundaries of Turkey today, are shown. For making the models, polyurethane-based materials compatible for outdoor conditions were preferred. Before deployed in where they are, the models were kept waited at Miniatürk Test Area to test once again whether they complied with the outdoor conditions.
The park combines a number of cultural and civilisation traces including without limited to Hagia Sophia, Selimiye, Rumeli Hisarı, Galata Tower, Safranbolu Houses, Sümeli Monastery, Dome of the Rock, Mount Nemrut reminiscent, and the Temple of Artemisia, Halicarnassus Mausoleum, Ecyad Tower that have not survived until today have been re-made.
Particular attention has been paid to make sure that every single civilisation that has left traces in and around Anatolia through Miniatürk, the 3000 years of traces from the Ancient Age to Byzantium, the Seljuks to the Ottoman have been carried forward to the coasts of the Golden Age.
Intending to create a “dreamlike” environment and ambient within itself, the Miniatürk project is composed of three categories, namely the works originated from the geographies of Anatolia, Istanbul and the former Ottoman. The sections are separated from one another through small landscape designs, whereas continuity is safeguarded competently so that a spirit of travelling route is created in a way to guide the visitors.
In addition to the models that are exhibited in the atmosphere of an open air museum in Miniatürk, different venues have been designed to enable the visitors to enjoy quality time. The 400 people capacity amphitheatre, shopping centre wherein souvenirs of Miniatürk are offered for sale, Turkey-Istanbul helicopter simulation tour, kids’ play areas for our little visitors, ferryboat, Miniland kids’ playground, Travel train, Fairy Tale Tree, the Olympic Stadium of the Four Great Teams, chess and labyrinth are some of these areas.
